Accounting firm in the canton of Fribourg

A bilingual canton where the language of the administration depends on the commune, with immediate practical consequences.

01

An administrative language set by the commune

  1. Bilingual, commune by commune

The official language varies by district and by commune. A company whose registered office is in a German-speaking commune receives and files in German, even if its directors speak neither German nor French.

  2. Industrial and agricultural SMEs

Fribourg companies have a different profile from those of the Geneva basin, and the questions shift accordingly: investment, depreciation and seasonal labour rather than international taxation.

  3. The Fribourg calendar

In the canton of Fribourg, filing deadlines, extension procedures and the handling of objections follow the canton's own practice.

Tax matters are handled by the Cantonal Tax Office (SCC). For the returns concerned, the ordinary filing deadline is 31 March.

A first extension can be obtained by paying CHF 20 with the QR-bill enclosed with the return. Further extensions must be requested using the form provided for that purpose. A reasoned request is also charged CHF 20. No more than four extensions can be granted, and never beyond 15 December.

To challenge a tax assessment, a written objection must be sent to the SCC within 30 days of its notification.
